  • In a clinical trial with 361 participants, pitolisant was administered in varying doses up to 40 mg daily for 12 weeks, showing a significant reduction in EDS as measured by the Epworth Sleepiness Scale compared to a placebo.
  • The study found that pitolisant was well tolerated and improved not only daytime sleepiness but also reaction times and overall patient satisfaction, regardless of whether patients used continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy.

In our continued investigations of microbial globins, we solved the structure of a truncated hemoglobin from Shewanella benthica, an obligate psychropiezophilic bacterium. The distal side of the heme active site is lined mostly with hydrophobic residues, with the exception of a tyrosine, Tyr34 (CD1) and a histidine, His24 (B13). We found that purified SbHbN, when crystallized in the ferric form with polyethylene glycol as precipitant, turned into a green color over weeks.

In intensive care units, COVID-19 viral pneumonia patients (VPP) present symptoms similar to those of other patients with Nonviral infection (NV-ICU). To better manage VPP, it is therefore interesting to better understand the molecular pathophysiology of viral pneumonia and to search for biomarkers that may clarify the diagnosis. The secretome being a set of proteins secreted by cells in response to stimuli represents an opportunity to discover new biomarkers.
