Controlling the structure and functionality of crystalline metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) using molecular building units and post-synthetic functionalisation presents challenges when extending this approach to their amorphous counterparts (aMOFs). Here, we present a new bottom-up approach for synthesising a series of Zr-based aMOFs, which involves linking metal-organic clusters with specific ligands to regulate local connectivity. In addition, we overcome the limitations of post-synthetic modifications in amorphous systems, demonstrating that homogeneous functionalisation is achievable even without regular internal voids.

A straightforward synthesis of a series of hybrid organic-inorganic materials (HOIMs) containing imidazolium moieties was achieved. The preparation of the imidazolium acetate precursor was performed in a single-step procedure using the Debus-Radziszewski reaction. The as-synthesized alkoxysilane was employed in combination with tetraethyl orthosilicate to generate an HOIM presenting a high specific surface area.

For many years, the risk-based therapy stratification of children with neuroblastoma has relied on clinical and molecular covariates. In recent years, genome analysis has revealed further alterations defining risk, tumor biology, and therapeutic targets.
