Evolution of the Quality of Care in Patients with Decompensated Heart Failure in a Venezuelan Hospital.

Several parameters have been proposed for the objective measurement of the quality of care (QoC) and breaches of care in patients with heart failure (HF). Therefore, the objective of this study was to evaluate the measures of QoC in inpatients with decompensated HF in the cardiology department of a tertiary Venezuelan hospital. : An observational, descriptive, ambispective study was conducted with adults of all genders diagnosed with decompensated HF between 2022 and 2024.

Neuroprotective Effect of the Combination of Citicoline and CoQ10 in a Mouse Model of Ocular Hypertension.

Glaucoma is a neurodegenerative disease characterized by the loss of retinal ganglion cells (RGCs), with intraocular pressure (IOP) being its primary risk factor. Both eye disorders have multifactorial etiologies. While previous work has elucidated many aspects of CDs, such as presenting symptoms, epidemiology, and pathophysiology, the genetic mechanisms remain incompletely understood.

Occluder Device Removal and Total Septation of "Swiss-Cheese" Ventricular Septal Defects.

"Swiss-cheese" ventricular septal defects present complex treatment challenges. Despite difficult defect visualization and closure, complete septation is the treatment of choice. We present the case of a 2-year-old with residual apical "Swiss-cheese" ventricular septal defects after failed percutaneous device closure with 2 occluder devices.

Pulmonary Atresia Intact Ventricular Septum With Anomalous Left Coronary Artery From Pulmonary Artery.

A patient with known pulmonary atresia and intact ventricular septum and ductal stent presented with low cardiac output and arrythmia. Intraoperatively, the patient was found to have an anomalous left coronary artery arising from the pulmonary artery. After reimplantation of the left coronary artery to the aortic root and placement of a central shunt, the patient progressed well and was discharged home.
