Aim: To describe the self-reported mental health of nurses from 35 countries who worked during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Background: There is little occupationally specific data about nurses' mental health worldwide. Studies have documented the impact on nurses' mental health of the COVID-19 pandemic, but few have baseline referents.
Automated, rapid electrocatalyst discovery techniques that comprehensively address the exploration of chemical spaces, characterization of catalyst robustness, reproducibility, and translation of results to (flow) electrolysis operation are needed. Responding to the growing interest in biomass valorization, we studied the glycerol electro-oxidation reaction (GEOR) on gold in alkaline media as a model reaction to demonstrate the efficacy of such methodology introduced here. Our platform combines individually addressable electrode arrays with HardPotato, a Python application programming interface for potentiostat control, to automate electrochemical experiments and data analysis operations.

Yet the differential roles and biological functions of co-targeting transcription factors is poorly understood. In melanoma, three highly-related transcription factors are co-expressed: The mTORC1-regulated TFEB and TFE3, that are key effectors of a wide range of metabolic and microenvironmental cues; and MITF, that controls melanoma phenotypic identity.

Given the complexity of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and their different adsorption capacities, redox potentials, and photolytic properties, an air purification system for the removal of VOCs that combines multiple physical processes was proposed in this study using toluene as an example. These processes include, in the first step, an adsorption treatment (AT) with activated carbon (AC), where toluene adsorption results from the insertion of aromatic rings (nonpolar groups) between the graphitic carbon planes, as demonstrated by the Raman spectroscopy; in the second step, electrochemical treatment (ECT) using TiO|Ti||SS-304 electrodes applying an electric field to accelerate the oxidation of toluene through the production of free radicals (⋅OH), hydroperoxyl radicals and benzyl groups, followed by the rupture of aromatic rings to generate aliphatic compounds and the consequent mineralization to CO, CO, and HO; in the third step, photolytic treatment (PT) with a 254-nm UV lamp for toluene degradation is used, which is influenced by the addition of radicals, such as ⋅OH or ⋅O , to transform toluene into either benzene or phenol.
