Background: Hypertension management is a national priority. However, hypertension control rates are suboptimal and vary across clinics, even among those in the same health system and geographic region.
Objective: To identify organizational barriers and facilitators that impact hypertension management at the provider, clinic, and health system level.
Background: To describe and compare the proportion of adult Canadians living with and without cardiovascular disease (CVD) meeting the physical activity (PA) and sedentary behaviour (SB) recommendations from the Canadian 24-Hour Movement Guidelines using accelerometer and self-reported measures.
Methods: Using adult (aged 18-79 years) accelerometer data (Actical worn during waking hours for 7 consecutive days) as well as chronic condition, socio-demographic, recreational screen time, and PA questions from three combined cycles of the Canadian Health Measures Survey, the PA, SB, and CVD risk factors of adults living with and without CVD were compared.
Results: A total of 7,035 Canadian adults who reported living with (n=363) and without (n=6,672) CVD were included.
Proteome changes associated with APOE4 variant carriage that are independent of Alzheimer's disease (AD) pathology and diagnosis are unknown. This study investigated APOE4 proteome changes in people with AD, mild cognitive impairment, and no impairment. Clinical, APOE genotype, and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) proteome and AD biomarker data was sourced from the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI) database.

The built environment provides an excellent setting for interdisciplinary research on the dynamics of microbial communities. The system is simplified compared to many natural settings, and to some extent the entire environment can be manipulated, from architectural design to materials use, air flow, human traffic, and capacity to disrupt microbial communities through cleaning. Here, we provide an overview of the ecology of the microbiome in the built environment.
