Introduction: The ability to integrate information across sensory modalities is a vital aspect of everyday functioning and is linked to cognition. Increasing evidence suggests that Alzheimer's disease (AD) pathology manifests in sensory association areas before appearing in higher-order cognitive areas. A clinical trial in dogs with spontaneous osteosarcoma was performed to assess a recombinant Listeria expressing a chimeric human HER2/neu (ADXS31-164) as an adjunctive vaccine strategy to prevent metastatic disease and determine immunological correlates of clinical outcome. 118 dogs with appendicular osteosarcoma were recruited into a 1-arm, multicenter, prospective trial of standard of care (SOC) therapy followed by ADXS31-164. ADXS31-164 was well tolerated with mostly transient, low-grade side effects.

Systemic sclerosis (SSc) remains a challenging and enigmatic systemic autoimmune disease, owing to its complex pathogenesis, clinical and molecular heterogeneity, and the lack of effective disease-modifying treatments. Despite a century of research in SSc, the interconnections among microvascular dysfunction, autoimmune phenomena and tissue fibrosis in SSc remain unclear. The absence of validated biomarkers and reliable animal models complicates diagnosis and treatment, contributing to high morbidity and mortality.
