Purpose: Financial toxicity (FT) is increasingly recognized as a major issue in cancer care. We evaluated the prevalence and risk factors for FT in patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) and FT associations with treatment adherence and quality of life (QOL).

Methods: A screening questionnaire based on the Comprehensive Score for Financial Toxicity (COST) was implemented at our National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center.

Objective: To assess whether selective omission of operative drains after pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD) and distal pancreatectomy (DP) is associated with adverse perioperative outcomes.

Background: The routine use of operative drains after pancreatectomy is widely practiced; however, prospective randomized clinical trials and retrospective analyses have shown mixed results.

Methods: Patients who underwent PD or DP between November 2009 and May 2021 were reviewed and stratified by operative drain placement.

Objectives: To determine the ferritin inter-assay differences between three "Conformité Européenne" (CE) marked tests, the impact on reference intervals (RI), and the proportion of individuals with iron deficiency (ID), we used plasma and serum from healthy blood donors (HBD) recruited in three different Switzerland regions.

Design And Methods: Heparinized plasma and serum from HBD were obtained from three different transfusion centers in Switzerland (Fribourg, Geneva, and Neuchatel). One hundred forty samples were recruited per center and per matrix, with a gender ratio of 50%, for a total of 420 HBD samples available per matrix.

Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) is the leading cause of end-stage renal disease. Glomerular hyperfiltration and albuminuria subject the proximal tubule (PT) to a subsequent elevation of workload, growth, and hypoxia. Hypoxia plays an ambiguous role in the development and progression of DKD and shall be clarified in our study.

Despite substantial lignocellulose conversion during mycelial growth, previous transcriptome and proteome studies have not yet revealed how secretomes from the edible mushroom develop and whether they modify lignin models . To clarify these aspects, secretomes collected throughout a 15-day industrial substrate production and from axenic lab-cultures were subjected to proteomics, and tested on polysaccharides and lignin models. Secretomes (day 6-15) comprised endo-acting and substituent-removing glycoside hydrolases, whereas β-xylosidase and glucosidase activities gradually decreased.
