Ovarian cancer represents a leading cause of cancer-related deaths in women worldwide. Chemotherapeutic agents are usually employed to treat the patients, and Ruthenium(II)-based compounds have been investigated as possible substitutes for platinum drugs. In this work, we studied three different Ru(II)-phosphine-mercapto complexes (1-3) as potential cytotoxic agents against A2780 and A2780-cisR ovarian cancer cells.

Fixed-bed columns are a well-established water purification technology. Several models have been constructed over the decades to scale up and predict the breakthrough curve of an adsorption column varying the flow rate, length, and initial concentration of solute. In this work, we proposed using an emerging computational approach of a physic-informed neural network (PINN) that uses artificial intelligence to solve the partial differential equation model of adsorption.

Background: Considering the potential antiviral and immunomodulatory properties of imatinib, this drug has been investigated in several studies as a potential treatment option for severe cases of COVID-19, given that treatment modalities available remain limited.

Objectives: To evaluate the benefits or otherwise of imatinib for COVID-19 in severely ill patients, we performed a systematic review of studies that tested the efficacy and the safety of imatinib for COVID-19 and executed a meta-analysis.

Methods: We searched Medline, Embase and Cochrane with the following search terms: 'coronavirus', 'SARS-Cov2', 'covid', 'covid-19' and 'imatinib'.

Background: The rapid spread and increase of chikungunya (CHIKV) and dengue (DENV) cases in Brazilian regions in 2023 has raised concerns about the impact of arboviruses on public health. Epidemiological and genomic surveillance was performed to estimate the introduction and spread of CHIKV and DENV in Brazil.

Methods: This study obtained results from the Hermes Pardini (HP), a private medical laboratory, and the Health Department of Minas Gerais state (SES-MG).

A monochromatic red emitting nonacoordinate organoeuropium complex with the formula [Eu(hfaa)(Ph-TerPyr)] (Eu-1) incorporating hexafluoroacetylacetone (hfaa) primary ligands and a tridentate 4'-phenyl-2,2':6',2''-terpyridine (Ph-TerPyr) ancillary ligand has been synthesized. The complex was characterized by analytical and spectroscopic methods, and its structure was established by single crystal X-ray diffraction (SC-XRD) analysis at low temperature, which explicitly confirms that the coordination sphere is composed of a EuON core. Under the UV excitation, Eu-1 displayed typical red emission in solution with a long-excited state lifetime ( = 1048.
