The current provisions for development length in the ACI 440.11 code disregard the confinement effect provided by stirrups on the bond strength of longitudinal bars and require splice lengths that pose implementation challenges. Given the significant improvement in GFRP material properties, this study investigated the bond strength of sand-coated GFRP bars and proposed a new factor to include the effect of stirrup confinement on the bond-strength provisions.

Materials And Methods: We e-mailed a 10-question survey to a distribution list compiled from peerreviewed vascular surgery journals and Professional online profiles associated with the vascular community. Respondents interested in transplant or in a kidney transplant-vascular curricula merger were labeled as "invested" in transplant.
Outer membrane vesicles (OMVs) are small membrane enclosed sacs released from bacteria which serve as carriers of biomolecules that shape interactions with the surrounding environment. The periodontal pathogen, , is a prolific OMV producer. Here, we investigated how the structure of lipid A, a core outer membrane molecule, influences OMV production, OMV-dependent TLR4 activation, and biofilm formation.

In ruminants, major long-chain fatty acids, such as linoleic acid (18:2, omega-6) and α-linolenic acid (18:3, omega-3), originate from dietary sources and reach the milk via the bloodstream. Since forages are the primary source of long-chain fatty acids for such animals, they are potential targets for improving milk lipid composition.

A literature review of difficult and failed obstetric intubations from the 1970s to 2015 shows that the incidence of failed intubation is unchanged, remaining at one per 390 anesthetics. Our obstetric case report highlights an obstetric difficult airway secondary to limited mouth opening; rescue of the airway with an i-gel®; and establishment of a definitive airway with the aid of an Aintree intubation catheter and flexible fiberoptic scope-guided intubation through the i-gel®, a second-generation supraglottic airway.
