Lipoatrophia semicircularis is a benign pathology characterized by subcutaneous tissue atrophy that affects the skin and related structures. Its etiology remains unclear; however, in the recent few years, it has been proposed that electrostatic charges could be a potential factor. Based on this hypothesis, the aim of this work is to study the cause-effect relation between electrostatic energy and LS, providing insights into the molecular mechanisms.

Article Synopsis
  • Bmf is a pro-apoptotic protein that interacts with myosin V motors and plays a role in detecting cellular damage, as part of the Bcl-2 family.
  • The study details the cloning and characterization of the chicken Bmf cDNA, revealing two isoforms: the standard Bmf protein (193 amino acids) and a splicing variant (Bmf(S), 118 amino acids) that lacks the DLC2-binding domain.
  • Both isoforms promote apoptosis in certain cell lines, with Bmf(S) being more effective, and the gene expression analysis indicates that Bmf is expressed throughout embryonic development, highlighting its potential significance in developmental processes.

Introduction And Objectives: An association has been reported between direct stenting in primary angioplasty and low incidences of the no-reflow phenomenon and distal embolization. The aims of this study were to determine the proportion of patients who can be treated by direct stent implantation and to identify factors that establish when the technique should be used in acute myocardial infarction in clinical practice.

Patients And Method: This prospective descriptive and multicenter study (DISCO 3) included 189 patients.

Bid protein, a member of the "BH3-only" subgroup of Bcl-2 family, plays a critical role in mammalian apoptosis regulation. In this study, we have cloned the chicken Bid gene, which encodes a 193 amino acid protein and shares 40% homology with human and mouse Bid proteins. Bid sequence comparison emphasises the conservation of both the functional domain BH3 and the proteolytic cleavage sites.

Pseudoaneurysm of the mitral-aortic intervalvular fibrosa is an uncommon event, which is usually secondary to endocarditis of the aortic valve. Its clinical evolution is variable and potentially serious complications can occur. Therefore, surgical treatment is usually recommended.
