Diffuse alopecia is a clinical entity with a diversified aetiology, that allows to distinguish from circumscribed or cicatricial alopecia or male baldness. It may be explained by several causes: endocrinological, andrological or thyroid dysfunction, pharmacological treatment or side effects of a drug, microbial infection, etc. Its treatment falls under three groups: hormonal (cyproterone), vitamin (B5, B8), amino acids (cystine) or local (minoxidil, progesterol).

A large scale mammography breast cancer screening has begun in Herault county on the first of july 1990. The aim of the project was to determine the impact of two-view mammography upon the size of the tumor and later upon mortality from breast cancer. The women aged 40-70 at entry were invited by mail to the first round of mobile breast screening.
