Perspectives on vaccination among unvaccinated members of a Canadian indigenous population.

From the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the potential impact on Indigenous (First Nations, Métis and Inuit) communities in Canada was a major concern. Evidence from previous pandemics, particularly H1N1, suggested that more cases and poorer outcomes among Indigenous Peoples was likely and that there might be barriers to Indigenous Peoples' vaccination. In this short report we consider the non-vaccination decisions of a sample of unvaccinated Métis Nation of Ontario citizens.

Initial Effectiveness of mRNA-1273 Against SARS-CoV-2 Infection and Hospitalization in Young Children.

Background: Data on mRNA-1273 (Moderna) vaccine effectiveness (VE) in children aged 6 months to 5 years are limited. The objectives of this study were to assess mRNA-1273 vaccine effectiveness against symptomatic severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection and coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)-related hospitalization among children aged 6 months to 5 years during the initial 5 months of the vaccination campaign rollout, as well as to determine whether VE varied by age group (6 months to <2 years vs 2 to 5 years).

Methods: We used a test-negative study with linked health administrative data in Ontario, Canada, to evaluate vaccine effectiveness of mRNA-1273 against symptomatic SARS-CoV-2 infection and COVID-19-related hospitalization from July 28 to December 31, 2022.

Bisphosphonate therapy for persistent hyperparathyroidism after kidney transplantation-A case report.

Post-transplant hyperparathyroidism (PT-HPT) is common in kidney transplant recipients (KTRs) and can cause nephrocalcinosis and graft dysfunction. Cinacalcet is commonly used for treating PT-HPT but may induce calciuria and exacerbate nephrocalcinosis. The concurrent use of bisphosphonates with cinacalcet to prevent this complication has not been reported.

Comparative efficacy of non-pharmacological management for chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome: a systematic review and network meta-analysis protocol.

Background: Chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS) has posed a significant burden on affected individuals and healthcare systems. While pharmacological treatments are commonly used, non-pharmacological management strategies have gained attention for their potential benefits in improving CP/CPPS symptoms. However, the comparative efficacy of these non-pharmacological interventions remains unclear.
