Without surgical help, 90% of patients with transposition of the great arteries (TGA) will die during the first year of life. After repair of TGA, 90% of patients reach adult life. A number of hemodynamic complications and arrhythmias may occur and must be recognized, because some require reoperation or pacemaker implantation.
