Skeletal Site-Specific Lipid Profile and Hematopoietic Progenitors of Bone Marrow Adipose Tissue in Patients Undergoing Primary Hip Arthroplasty.

Background/objectives: Bone marrow adipose tissue (BMAT) has been described as an important biomechanic and lipotoxic factor with negative impacts on skeletal and hematopoietic system regeneration. BMAT undergoes metabolic and cellular adaptations with age and disease, being a source of potential biomarkers. However, there is no evidence on the lipid profile and cellularity at different skeletal locations in osteoarthritis patients undergoing primary hip arthroplasty.

The effect of different anesthetics on the incidence of AKI and AKD after neurosurgical procedures.

Acute kidney injury (AKI) incidence after neurosurgical operations has been reported as 10-14%. The literature regarding the incidence of nosocomial acute kidney disease (AKD) following neurosurgery is scarce. This retrospective, single-center, observational study aimed to assess the impact of different anaesthetics on development of postoperative AKI and persistent AKD in neurosurgical patients.

Cross-contamination Risks in Dry Produce Packinghouses: Efficacy of Alcohol-based Sanitizers to Reduce Salmonella and Potential Surrogates on Relevant Surface Materials.

A 2020 Salmonella outbreak was epidemiologically linked to red onions; however, insufficient cleaning and sanitation in the packinghouse expanded the recall to include all onions handled by the packing house in the preceding 3 months. Our objective was to evaluate the efficacy of dry sanitizers to reduce cross-contamination risk on food contact surfaces (FCSs) found in postharvest packing areas. Transfer of Salmonella and potential surrogates (Escherichia coli, Enterococcus faecium) to and from onions to FCS materials (high-density polypropylene, polyester-nylon conveyor belts, plywood) was quantified.

A Quantitative Risk Assessment Model for in Non-Ready-to-Eat Frozen Vegetables.

A quantitative risk assessment (QRA) model was developed to evaluate the risk of invasive listeriosis from the consumption of non-ready-to-eat (non-RTE) frozen vegetables. On a lot basis, the QRA model simulates concentration and prevalence in a "Processing module" that comprises blanching, potential recontamination and packaging, any post-packaging inactivation treatment, and within-lot end-product testing and in a subsequent "Consumer's handling module" that encompasses portioning of frozen vegetables, defrosting, and cooking. Based on available published data, the model was coded in nine sequential R functions designed to assess the effectiveness of blanching, the improvement in processing environment hygiene, the implementation of sampling schemes at the end of processing, and improved consumer instructions on the product's package.

The Influence of Health Education on Vaccination Coverage and Knowledge of the School Population Related to Vaccination and Infection Caused by the Human Papillomavirus.

Background/objectives: Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a causative agent of infections and cancers of the reproductive and digestive tract, and vaccination is the most effective prevention method. This research aimed to assess the impact of health education on vaccination coverage and knowledge of the school population related to HPV infection and vaccination.

Methods: This non-randomized clinical trial included 170 participants out of the 221 students in the generation of 2022/2023, who were divided into a group of Subjects and Controls and who self-assessed their knowledge and tested knowledge at four and two time points, respectively.
