Mapping of infection prevention and control education and training in some countries of the World Health Organization's Eastern Mediterranean Region: current situation and future needs.

Background: A strong understanding of infection prevention and control (IPC) procedures and comprehensive training among healthcare workers is essential for effective IPC programs. These elements play a crucial role in breaking the chain of nosocomial infections by preventing the transmission of resistant organisms to patients and staff members. This study mapped the components of IPC education and training across various member states of the World Health Organization (WHO) in the Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMR) at national, academic, and healthcare institutional levels.

Disorders of Bulldogs under primary veterinary care in the UK in 2013.

The Bulldog is a popular companion breed in the UK despite widely reported disease predispositions. This study aimed to characterise the demography, mortality and common disorders of Bulldogs under veterinary care in the UK during 2013. Changes in serum protein values of sheep infected with Fasciola gigantica.

Serum protein values were determined in 6 lambs given 1 dose of 200 metacercariae of Fasciola gigantica. Over the 22 weeks of the experiment, total serum protein values in these lambs were only moderately increased over those of control lambs (n = 6). The increase was mainly associated with the change in alpha2-globulin and gamma-globulin fractions.

The comparative efficacy of diamphenethide and rafoxanide against fasciola gigantica in sheep.

Efficacy of diamphenethide ("Coriban", Burroughs Wellcome) and rafoxanide ("Ranide", Merck Sharpe & Dohme, Ltd.) was evaluated in lambs against 8-week old experimentally induced Fasciola gigantica infection. Results were assessed by the reduction in worm counts at post-mortem examination 8 weeks after treatment.
