Make Some Noise: Generating Data from Imperfect Factor Models.

Researchers simulating covariance structure models sometimes add model error to their data to produce model misfit. Presently, the most popular methods for generating error-perturbed data are those by Tucker, Koopman, and Linn (TKL), Cudeck and Browne (CB), and Wu and Browne (WB). Although all of these methods include parameters that control the degree of model misfit, none can generate data that reproduce multiple fit indices.

Hepatitis E virus infection of transplanted kidneys.

Immunocompromised patients are at risk of chronic hepatitis E (HEV) infection. Recurrent T cell and borderline rejections in a pediatric patient with high HEV copy numbers led us to study HEV infection within renal transplants. To investigate the frequency of renal HEV infection in transplanted patients, 15 samples from patients with contemporaneous diagnoses of HEV infection were identified at our center.

Assessing Dimensionality in Non-Positive Definite Tetrachoric Correlation Matrices: Does Matrix Smoothing Help?

We performed two simulation studies that investigated dimensionality recovery in NPD tetrachoric correlation matrices using parallel analysis. In each study, the NPD matrices were rehabilitated by three smoothing algorithms. In Study 1, we replicated the work by Debelak and Tran on the assessment of dimensionality in one- or two-dimensional common factor models.

Hereditary neuralgic amyotrophy (HNA) is an autosomal dominant disorder associated with episodic, recurrent, and painful neuropathies affecting the nerves of the brachial plexus. In this study, we report on a family of Lebanese descent with HNA onset in early childhood. The affected family members presented with platelet dysfunction.
