SET proteins are lysine methyltransferases. In investigating Leishmania donovani SET29, we found depletion of LdSET29 by two-thirds did not affect promastigote growth, nor alter the parasite's response to UV-induced or HU-induced stress, but made it more tolerant to HO-induced oxidizing environment. The deviant response to oxidative stress was coupled to lowered accumulation of reactive oxygen species, which was linked to enhanced scavenging activity.

In this work, we report the synthesis of a redox-sensitive diblock copolymer (P1), which was subsequently utilized to prepare doxorubicin (DOX) containing a pH-labile prodrug (P2). P1 and P2 spontaneously self-assembled in aqueous media above their critical aggregation concentration, forming micellar nanoparticles with rare bicontinuous morphology that promotes loading of both hydrophobic and hydrophilic cargoes in different compartments.

This approach features mild, metal-free, and aerobic reaction conditions with good functional group tolerance. Moreover, the synthetic utility of this method is demonstrated by the synthesis of unique structural motifs such as isoxazolidine, 3-vinyl isoxazoline, and 2,5-diphenylpyrazine derivatives by the conversion of 3-acyl Δ-isoxazolines, thereby showcasing its efficiency and applicability in synthetic chemistry.
