The 22q11.2 deletion is a risk factor for multiple psychiatric disorders including schizophrenia and also increases vulnerability to middle-ear problems that can cause hearing impairment. Up to 60% of deletion carriers experience hearing impairment and ~30% develop schizophrenia in adulthood.

Some evidence exists that this approach may lead to more patient-centered care in the intensive care unit; however, it has never been evaluated in the emergency department (ED). The study protocol aims to assess the feasibility and acceptability of TLTs initiated in the ED.

Abstract: Prerequisites for the goal of studying long-lived, magnetically confined, electron-positron pair plasmas in the laboratory include the injection of both species into the trap, long trapping times, and suitable diagnostic methods. Here we report recent progress on these tasks achieved in a simple dipole trap based on a supported permanent magnet. For the injection of electrons, both an drift technique (of a 2- A, 6-eV beam) and "edge injection" (from a filament emitting a few mA and biased to some tens of volts) have been demonstrated; the former is suitable for low-density beams with smaller spatial and velocity spreads, while the latter employs fluctuations arising from collective behavior.

Improving bone-graft substitutes and expanding their use in orthopedic and spinal surgery leads to shorter surgical times, fewer complications, and less pain among patients both in human and veterinary medicine. This study compared an elastic porous β-tricalcium phosphate/poly(L-lactide-co-ε-caprolactone) (β-TCP/PLCL) copolymer scaffold (composite scaffold) and a commercially available β-TCP/PLCL bone-graft substitute (chronOS Strip) in a rabbit calvarial defect. A bilateral, 12-mm circular defect was created in the parietal bones of 12 rabbits.
