Disparities persist throughout medicine, including among conference speakership invitations. The National Institutes of Health have highlighted the importance of diversity at academic conferences. We assessed the gender composition of speakers at the American Society for Apheresis (ASFA) annual meeting.

PLGA's ability to control drug release is often hindered by nonlinear release profiles and slow initial drug release for hydrophobic drugs. This study investigates the incorporation of dexamethasone phosphate (DEXP) into polyethylene glycol-poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PEG-PLGA) implants to enhance the initial release rate of dexamethasone (DEX).

In this chapter, we will review their indications, describe the technical procedures, and review outcome data in the literature. Among the curative approaches, anterior quadrant disconnection, posterior quadrant (PQ) disconnection, and functional hemispherectomy can be performed for patients whose epileptic focus resides in one hemisphere or one quadrant.

Background: Patients with severe, refractory Crohn's disease (CD) or ulcerative colitis (UC) and inadequate response to medical therapy have a high risk of complications. A better understanding of treatment response in the setting of prior failure may improve disease control in high-risk patients.
Introduction: Total hip arthroplasty (THA) has been among the most successful procedures in medicine, but the preferred approach and use of enhancing technologies are evolving. This study was conducted to define current THA practice (surgical approach and use of enhancing technologies) among early-career and more experienced surgeons. A secondary goal of this study was to identify differences in 6-month PROMIS pain interference or function scores and early complications.
