Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by the formation of demyelinated lesions in the central nervous system. At later stages of the disease repair in the form of remyelination often fails, which leads to axonal degeneration and neurological disability. For the regeneration of myelin, oligodendrocyte progenitor cells (OPCs) have to migrate, proliferate and differentiate into remyelinating oligodendrocytes.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate treatment specificity and potential mediators of two online therapies for depressive symptoms. We conducted a randomized controlled trial in which 263 participants were randomized to online cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), online problem-solving therapy (PST) or a waiting list control group. Both treatments were more effective than the control group in reducing dysfunctional attitudes, worry, negative problem orientation and enhancing feelings of control.

Purpose: Various proapoptotic agents are currently being explored to improve the outcome of radiotherapy. We have evaluated whether APO010-a novel recombinant ligand of the Fas/CD95 death receptor-enhanced the cytotoxic effect of radiation on lymphoid and solid tumor cell types.

Malignant mesothelioma is a devastating disease that has been associated with loss of Neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2) and genetic lesions affecting RB and P53 pathways. We introduced similar lesions in the mesothelial lining of the thoracic cavity of mice. Mesothelioma developed at high incidence in Nf2;Ink4a/Arf and Nf2;p53 conditional knockout mice with median survival times of approximately 30 and 20 weeks, respectively.

Gentamicin-loaded acrylic beads are loosely placed in infected bone cavities, whereas gentamicin-loaded acrylic bone cement is used as a mechanical filler in bone to anchor prosthetic components. Both drug delivery systems are used to decrease infection rates by gentamicin release. The objective of this study is to investigate the effects of pulsed ultrasound on gentamicin release from both materials.
