'Failure to rescue' in patients with documented signs of deterioration results in an estimated five potentially avoidable deaths at each acute trust in England each month. One common cause is inattention to concerns of patients or their families about acute deterioration. Martha's Rule requires reliable methods for (1) patients or their families to escalate worries and concerns about deterioration and (2) to routinely input their understanding of their illness/wellness and trajectory into the health record.

Background: Chronic lower limb pain is common in children and adolescents and is frequently managed by podiatrists. Due to the complexities of understanding the cause of chronic pain, clinicians may experience uncertainty around the diagnosis, which in turn may impact their communication and management approaches. Limited research explores how podiatrists manage chronic lower limb pain in children, especially in the presence of diagnostic uncertainty.

Advances in cellular imaging technologies, especially those based on fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) now allow detailed visualization of the spatial organization of human or bacterial cells. Quantifying this spatial organization is crucial for understanding the function of multicellular tissues or biofilms, with implications for human health and disease. To address the need for better methods to achieve such quantification, we propose a flexible multivariate point process model that characterizes and estimates complex spatial interactions among multiple cell types.

It is common in nature to see aggregation of objects in space. Exploring the mechanism associated with the locations of such clustered observations can be essential to understanding the phenomenon, such as the source of spatial heterogeneity, or comparison to other event generating processes in the same domain. Log-Gaussian Cox processes (LGCPs) represent an important class of models for quantifying aggregation in a spatial point pattern.

Background: Osteoporosis screening guidelines recommend bone mineral density (BMD) testing following fragility fractures. Nevertheless, previous studies have demonstrated low rates of osteoporosis screening. Diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis is essential for prevention of future fractures, however not much is known about the factors associated with receiving BMD testing in this patient population.
