Background: Glioblastoma (GBM) has a median survival of <2 years. Pexidartinib (PLX3397) is a small-molecule inhibitor of CSF1R, KIT, and oncogenic FTL3, which are implicated in GBM treatment resistance. Results from glioma models indicate that combining radiation therapy (RT) and pexidartinib reduces radiation resistance.

Man-made agricultural stressors have been identified to compromise the reproductive dynamics of bee populations within agricultural environments. With the aid of bee hotels, we explored the influence of conventional and organic farming systems on local population size and body traits of the mason bee, Osmia bicornis, in southern Germany. We further used a chemical ecology approach and bioassays to test whether farming management influence male pre-copulatory behaviors.

Fire is a major ecological and evolutionary factor promoting biodiversity and maintaining functioning of naturally fire-prone ecosystems. In tropical savannas, plant communities show a set of fire-adapted traits and both flowering and pollination services have the potential to rapidly regenerate after fire, but fire-suppression policies may disrupt this adaptability following potential woody encroachment. Understanding the effects of fire on plant-pollinator interactions are required to advance conservation of biodiversity and ecosystem functioning.

Article Synopsis
  • The study explored the use of bevacizumab as a salvage therapy for patients with solid tumor brain metastases who showed progression after whole-brain radiation, focusing on its effectiveness and safety.
  • In the trial, 27 patients received bevacizumab, with 18 showing some level of radiologic response, while the median progression-free survival and overall survival were reported as 5.3 months and 9.5 months, respectively.
  • The treatment was found to be generally safe, with some patients experiencing minor adverse effects, and it did not negatively impact their quality of life.
