This prospective, experimental, mixed study determined whether there were differences in intraosseous (IO) and intravenous (IV) whole blood transfusion relative to hemolysis and transfusion time. Swine were assigned to the IV group (n = 6) with an 18-gauge catheter in the auricular vein or the IO group (n = 7) with a 15-gauge 10 needle in the proximal humerus. Following baseline specimen collection, 900 mL of blood was collected from each animal.

This study demonstrates that the retention behavior of various circular double-stranded DNA molecules (3, 5, and 10 kb) increases over the entire flow-rate range (0.02-1.8 mL/min) at all the mobile phase viscosities (h).

The mechanism of the binding of D,L dansyl amino acids to teicoplanin was investigated. Na+ was used as an indicator of the interactions between the solutes and teicoplanin. The number (n) of sodium ions, Na+, excluded from the solute-teicoplanin interface when analyte transfer occurred was determined.

Given the often reported relationships between sleep-wake regulation and the cerebral prostaglandins (PGs), the effect of chronic rapid eye movement (REM) sleep deprivation on brain PGE2 and PGD2 biosynthesis in mouse was evaluated, since they are known to have opposite actions as respectively wake- and sleep-inducing substances. Mice were subjected to 5 and 10 days of REM sleep deprivation by the flower pot technique. After sacrifice, PGE2 and PGD2 were determined in the pituitary, hypothalamus and hippocampus.
