Article Synopsis
  • This review examines laser-assisted drug delivery (LADD) methods for treating nail diseases, focusing on onychomycosis and psoriasis, based on a literature search conducted up to June 2023.
  • It highlights the use of fractional ablative CO2 and Er:YAG lasers for enhancing the effectiveness of topical antifungal medications and treatments for psoriatic nails.
  • The findings indicate that LADD is generally more effective than traditional topical treatments alone, although there are certain advantages and disadvantages to this newer approach that should be discussed between dermatologists and patients.

Background: Microplastics (MPs) and nanoplastics (NPs) have become a growing concern in dermatology due to their widespread presence in cosmetic formulations and the environment. These minuscule synthetic polymer particles prompt an essential exploration of their potential impact on dermatological homeostasis.

Aims: This study aims to investigate the effects of MPs and NPs on the integumentary system.

Cutaneous adverse events are commonly reported in adult patients with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) receiving tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs); however, little is known about the cutaneous reactions in children receiving TKIs for CML. As pediatric patients may require lifelong TKI therapy, it is essential to understand the wide range of potential cutaneous toxicities. We examined all case studies, cohort studies, and clinical trials in PubMed/MEDLINE and Embase that reported cutaneous reactions to first-, second-, and third-generation TKIs in children 18 years or younger with CML.
