Article Synopsis
  • Doxycycline postexposure prophylaxis (doxyPEP) effectively reduces the incidence of bacterial sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in those assigned male at birth, although practical data is limited.
  • This study analyzed electronic health records of HIV PrEP users from Kaiser Permanente Northern California to assess the uptake of doxyPEP and its impact on STI rates before and after its initiation.
  • Out of 11,551 HIV PrEP users, 19.5% received doxyPEP, with a notable percentage having an STI prior; findings suggest changes in STI positivity rates among those who started doxyPEP versus those who did not.

Following the onset of COVID-19, demand for US veterinary services rapidly increased, similarly driving up demand in upstream veterinary labor markets. This increasing demand starkly contrasted with the "excess capacity" period following the Great Recession, marked by fewer opportunities and low wages for veterinarians. Better models and forecasts of veterinary labor market conditions improve information for decision-making by veterinarians, relevant business owners, professional associations, and educational institutions.

Article Synopsis
  • The crystalline cyclic (alkyl)(amino)carbene fc(CPh-C-NMes) is highly reactive and unstable in solution due to its ability to insert into C-H bonds, a process that doesn't occur in the related compound fc(CPh-C-N-p-CH-tBu).
  • Although fc(CPh-C-N-p-CH-tBu) (1) cannot undergo the same insertion, it is too short-lived to isolate because it quickly rearranges to form a distinct cyclic enamine through an unusual decomposition process.
  • Trapping experiments with various reagents have led to the formation of stable compounds, indicating that 1 is an even stronger ambiphile than A, and both compounds do not react with

Background And Aims: Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) is an aggressive malignancy arising from the intrahepatic (iCCA) or extrahepatic (eCCA) bile ducts with poor prognosis and limited treatment options. Prior evidence highlighted a significant contribution of the non-canonical NF-κB signalling pathway in initiation and aggressiveness of different tumour types. Lymphotoxin-β (LTβ) stimulates the NF-κB-inducing kinase (NIK), resulting in the activation of the transcription factor RelB.

Beyond-Moore computing technologies are expected to provide a sustainable alternative to the von Neumann approach not only due to their down-scaling potential but also via exploiting device-level functional complexity at the lowest possible energy consumption. The dynamics of the Mott transition in correlated electron oxides, such as vanadium dioxide, has been identified as a rich and reliable source of such functional complexity. However, its full potential in high-speed and low-power operation has been largely unexplored.
