Malignant gliomas are heterogeneous tumors, mostly incurable, arising in the central nervous system (CNS) driven by genetic, epigenetic, and metabolic aberrations. Mutations in isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH1/2) enzymes are predominantly found in low-grade gliomas and secondary high-grade gliomas, with IDH1 mutations being more prevalent. Mutant-IDH1/2 confers a gain-of-function activity that favors the conversion of a-ketoglutarate (α-KG) to the oncometabolite 2-hydroxyglutarate (2-HG), resulting in an aberrant hypermethylation phenotype.

To What Extent Can Digital Health Technologies Comply With the Principles of Responsible Innovation? Practice-and Policy-Oriented Research Insights Regarding an Organisational and Systemic Issue.

Background: Digital health technologies (DHTs) have expanded exponentially since the COVID-19 crisis and have prompted questions about their impact across all levels of health systems. Because health organisations and systems play a central role in the success or failure of the transition to more equitable and sustainable societies, the concept of Responsible Innovation in Health (RIH), focused on aligning the processes and outcomes of innovation with societal values, is gaining interest in research, policy, and practice. This study aims to explore enablers and constraints to the development, procurement and/or utilisation of responsible DHTs in health organisations.

Understanding mental health in breast cancer from screening to Survivorship: an integrative phasic Model and tool.

Integrative models of mental illness and health in psycho-oncology are aimed at all types of cancer, although the patients' experiences and issues may vary. This review summarizes the different theories and models of mental illness and health pertaining to the breast cancer experience and proposes an integrative phasic model applicable to the breast cancer trajectory. Five databases were searched for studies related to breast cancer mental health and illness theories and models.

Using Quality Improvement to Design and Evaluate an Outpatient Day Treatment Pathway for Pediatric Patients with Diabetes Mellitus Requiring Insulin Initiation.

Introduction: Education and management of children with new-onset or established diabetes mellitus (DM) requiring insulin initiation do not always require hospitalization. We developed a pathway for outpatient day treatment of select patients after initial evaluation in the emergency department (ED) at a pediatric, tertiary care academic medical center.

Methods: A multidisciplinary team identified key initial eligibility criteria for outpatient day treatment for insulin initiation, including absence of diabetic ketoacidosis, age ≥3 years, and plasma beta-hydroxybutyrate (BOHB) <1 mmol/L.

Provision of medication and procedural abortion among Massachusetts obstetrician-gynecologists.

Objectives: The aim of the study was to understand the rates of first-trimester medication and procedural abortion provision, sufficiency in abortion training, and factors associated with abortion provision among obstetrician-gynecologists (OB/GYNs) in Massachusetts.

Study Design: Electronically fielded surveys of a census of OB/GYNs in Massachusetts in 2021 queried physicians on abortion provision, training, practice type, and demographics. Using weighting to account for nonresponse, we generated estimates of the proportion of OB/GYNS providing abortion and used multivariate regression analysis to explore factors associated with abortion provision including practice type, physician sex, and sufficient abortion training.
