We describe the case of a 28-year-old man with Brugada syndrome who received single-shot adductor canal and sciatic nerve blocks for the management of post-operative pain related to extensive orthopedic injuries. Low-dose ropivacaine with glucocorticoid additives was administered without any EKG changes, arrhythmias, or syncopal sensations. The patient experienced pain relief for over 24 h and was monitored on telemetry with defibrillator pads as a cardiac precaution.

Domestic production of high specific activity Co was halted after a target rupture in 2012 at the Advanced Test Reactor (ATR). The Isotope Program (IP) within the US Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Science tasked a multilaboratory team of researchers and managers from Oak Ridge and Idaho National Laboratories with the redesign the radioisotope capsule. The objective of this effort was to create a more robust and reliable design, compared to the pre-2012 target.

The use of local anesthetics for improved pain management is well established. However, significant morbidity may be caused by local anesthetic systemic toxicity (LAST) from inadvertent intravascular injection or excessive dosing of local anesthetics. Despite incomplete understanding of the mechanism of action of intravenous lipid emulsions (ILE), their use has become a first-line therapy for treating LAST.
