The marron (Cherax tenuimanus) is one of the few species of freshwater crayfish native to Australia that is suitable for aquaculture and occurs only in the southwest of Western Australia. This study describes polymorphic microsatellite markers which differentiate marron populations from several geographically distinct regions (including rivers and streams, dams, and commercial marron farms) throughout Western Australia.
