Harry, JR, Park, S, Stewart, M, Hite, M, Simms, A, Larsen, M, and Bishop, C. Asymmetry during landing impacts following jumps with aerial rotation in collegiate men's basketball players. J Strength Cond Res XX(X): 000-000, 2024-This project explored whether (a) landing performances and (b) impact force asymmetries were different during countermovement jump (CMJ) landings with leftward versus rightward aerial rotation in 19 collegiate men's basketball players.

This study aimed to compare the agreement between three-dimensional motion capture and vertical ground reaction force (vGRF) in identifying the point of dumbbell (DB) release during a countermovement jump with accentuated eccentric loading (CMJ), and to examine the influence of the vGRF analysis method on the reliability and magnitude of CMJ variables. Twenty participants (10 male, 10 female) completed five maximal effort CMJ at 20% and 30% of body mass (CMJ and CMJ, respectively) using DBs. There was large variability between methods in both loading conditions, as indicated by the wide limits of agreement (CMJ = -0.

Skateboarding, once regarded primarily as a means of transportation and entertainment for youth, has become a recognized professional sport, gaining global popularity. With its recent inclusion in the Olympics, a growing imperative exists to comprehensively understand biomechanics explaining skateboarding performance. This literature review seeks to consolidate knowledge within this domain, focusing on experimental and modeling studies about skateboard riding and tricks.

Article Synopsis
  • The study highlights the growing importance of sports science professionals in teams, noting their reliance on group statistical analyses that may not be suitable for smaller samples or individual athletes.
  • It examines four statistical methods (model statistic, smallest worthwhile change, coefficient of variation, and standard error of measurement) for assessing performance improvements at the individual level, providing step-by-step guidance for each.
  • The research suggests that using a combination of the model statistic and coefficient of variation will effectively detect meaningful training adaptations in athletes, ensuring the results reflect actual performance changes rather than random fluctuations.
