Objective: Laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR) is responsible for many otorhinolaryngology manifestations. There is little evidence regarding the LPR impact on olfaction. No other study has investigated the efficacy of proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) on olfaction.

Prospective Evaluation of Transsphenoidal Pituitary Surgery in Patients with Cushing's Disease: Delayed Remission and the Role of Postsurgical Cortisol as a Predictive Factor.

Background: Transsphenoidal surgery is the treatment of choice for Cushing's disease. Successful surgery is associated with subnormal postoperative serum cortisol concentrations and cortisoluria levels, which may guide decisions regarding immediate reoperation. Remission is defined as the biochemical reversal of hypercortisolism with the re-emergence of diurnal circadian rhythm.

Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma of Pterygopalatine Fossa: Report of a Rare Case.

Adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) is an uncommon malignant neoplasm that predominantly arises from major and minor salivary glands, accounting for about 1% of head and neck malignancies. ACCs originating from the pterygopalatine fossa (PPF) are extremely rare. In this case report, we present a 77-year-old male patient who experienced a two-year hemi-facial numbness and mild trismus, with intact nasal mucosa.

Otogenic brain complications: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Objective: This study aimed to form astute deductions regarding the presentation, treatment and mortality of otogenic brain complications.

Methods: A systematic literature search of four medical databases (PubMed, Embase, Web of Science and Scopus) was conducted. Studies associated with otogenic brain complications were considered eligible.

Quality of Life in Patients With Well-Differentiated Thyroid Carcinoma After Total Thyroidectomy in Greece.

Introduction: Well-differentiated thyroid cancer is among the most common types of endocrine cancer. Despite its increasing prevalence, the prognosis of thyroid cancer is rather good, with a five-year survival rate ranging between 80% and 90%, depending on the histological type. Not only the post-treatment complications and the side effects of the lifelong medication but also the possibility of a recurrence may have a negative impact on the patient's quality of life (QoL).
