Coherence controlled holographic microscopy - a tool for detection of new biomarkers of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma.

Background: Squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck is characterized by local invasiveness and metastases to regional lymph nodes. In 60% of cases, these tumours are dia-gnosed at an advanced stage, and the prognosis is unfavorable. One of the important factors of local, hematogenous or lymphogenic spread of the tumour in the human body is tumour cells migration ability.

Autopsy-Determined Atherosclerosis in Elite US Military Special Operations Forces.

Background: Autopsy studies of trauma fatalities have provided evidence for the pervasiveness of atherosclerosis in young and middle-aged adults. The objective of this study was to determine the prevalence of atherosclerosis in elite US military forces.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective study of all US Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) fatalities from 2001 to 2020 who died from battle injuries.

Juvista™ drug product contains human recombinant active transforming growth factor beta 3 (TGFβ3; avotermin). Juvista is being developed for the prevention and reduction of human scarring. Phase II and III clinical and development batches of Juvista were assayed for content by an immunoenzymometric assay (IEMA) using a National Institute for Biological Standards and Control (NIBSC) TGFβ3 reference material (98/608) and avotermin standard (Lot 205-0505-005).

Seasonal and inter-annual variation of Beryllium-7 deposition in birch-tree leaves and grass in the northeast upland area of the Czech Republic.

The activity concentrations of Beryllium-7 ((7)Be), a naturally occurring radioisotope produced in the atmosphere, were measured in leaves of birch-trees, above-ground parts of grass, soil and rainwater in the mountain massive Kralicky Sneznik (the northeast of the Czech Republic, altitude about 750 m) in the years of 2005, 2006 and 2007. Dried and ground samples of the plants and soils, and water samples from wet deposition were used to determine the (7)Be content using a semiconductor gamma spectrometer. The (7)Be values ranged from 147.

Production of fuculose-1-phosphate aldolase using operator-repressor titration for plasmid maintenance in high cell density Escherichia coli fermentations.

We report a novel application for the operator-repressor titration (ORT) plasmid maintenance system. The ability of ORT to maintain a plasmid during production of DNA has been demonstrated previously. In this study, we have used the ORT system to maintain a plasmid during high cell density cultivation and expression of a recombinant protein.
