The Polar Coordinate Model (PCM) was a model, published in 1976, to account for the properties of distal regeneration in the appendages of insects and vertebrates. It had considerable impact at the time and has continued to be cited ever since. This article describes the work that led up to the model, the genesis of the model itself, its strengths and weaknesses, and its long term impact.

Objectives: The purpose of this cross-sectional study was to examine fatigue and its relationship to the gut microbiome in adult Black women with PCOS.
Methods: Adult Black women with a diagnosis of PCOS were recruited for this cross-sectional study.
Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a rarely reported arrhythmia in otherwise healthy newborn foals, with a single case of cardioversion using procainamide administration described in the literature. Two neonatal Thoroughbred colts were presented to an equine hospital because of an irregularly irregular tachyarrhythmia and poor latching when trying to nurse. History, physical examination, and initial diagnostic testing including ECG and echocardiography confirmed AF without structural heart disease.

Methods: Seventy-two maternal-infant pairs who completed the assessments of prenatal psychological distress during the third trimester and neurodevelopment of infants at age 6-8 months of age were included in this study. The gut microbiota and its short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) of maternal-infant were determined by 16S rRNA sequencing and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry analysis.
