Background/aim: Studies on large cross-arch bridges in patients with severe periodontitis show that such bridges can stabilize the periodontal condition. However, it is not known if these bridges will reduce long-term tooth loss and what factors are important for their long-term survival. We studied mean changes in birthweight from the first to the second delivery according to length of the inter-pregnancy interval. We also studied recurrence risk of low birthweight, preterm birth and perinatal death. We followed all women in Norway from their first to their second singleton delivery at gestational week 22 or beyond during the years 1970-2019, a total of 654 100 women.

Clinical practice guidelines aim to enhance the quality, equality and consistency of care but often demand more time than is available, rendering adherence impractical and exceeding feasible resources. The 2017 introduction of a new periodontal classification system by the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) and the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP) sought to refine clinical and epidemiological practices by serving as the basis for clinical practice guidelines and epidemiological investigations around the world. Following this classification, the EFP recommends supportive periodontal care visits every 3-12 months for all periodontitis cases.

Objectives: This study aims to assess the risk of peri-implantitis (PI) onset among different implant systems and evaluate the severity of the disease from a population of patients treated in a university clinic. Furthermore, this study intends to thoroughly examine the surface properties of the implant systems that have been identified and investigated.
