Solidification is a heterogeneous transformation from liquid to solid, which usually combines transport, phase transition and mechanical strain. Predicting the shapes resulting from such a complex process is fascinating and has a wide range of implications from morphogenesis in biological tissues to industrial processes. For soft solids initially at equilibrium, elastic stresses, whether tensile or compressive, can be induced by heterogeneous volumetric deformations of the material.

Interfacially stabilized nonaqueous lipid-based foams, which we name here oleofoams, are rarely encountered as opposed to the large number of aqueous foams stabilized by molecular or particulate emulsifiers. There is no case well described in the literature with a convincing characterization of the interfacial contribution to oleofoam stability. Methods for filling this gap are described here, which reach out to a large part of the lipid phase diagram.

This study shows that sensory priming facilitates reports of same-modality concepts in an attentional blink paradigm. Participants had to detect and report two target words (T1 and T2) presented for 53 ms each among a series of nonwords distractors at a frequency of up to 19 items per second. SOA between target words was set to 53 ms or 213 ms, with reduced attention expected for T2 under the longer SOA (attentional blink) and for T1 under the shorter SOA (lag-1 sparing).

The P39 and the bacterioferrin (BFR) antigens of Brucella melitensis 16M were previously identified as T dominant antigens able to induce both delayed-type hypersensivity in sensitized guinea pigs and in vitro gamma interferon (IFN-gamma) production by peripheral blood mononuclear cells from infected cattle. Here, we analyzed the potential for these antigens to function as a subunitary vaccine against Brucella abortus infection in BALB/c mice, and we characterized the humoral and cellular immune responses induced. Mice were injected with each of the recombinant proteins alone or adjuvanted with either CpG oligodeoxynucleotides (CpG ODN) or non-CpG ODN.
