Comparing fully automated AI body composition biomarkers at differing virtual monoenergetic levels using dual-energy CT.

Purpose: To investigate the behavior of artificial intelligence (AI) CT-based body composition biomarkers at different virtual monoenergetic imaging (VMI) levels using dual-energy CT (DECT).

Methods: This retrospective study included 88 contrast-enhanced abdominopelvic CTs acquired with rapid-kVp switching DECT. Images were reconstructed into five VMI levels (40, 55, 70, 85, 100 keV).

Posterior shoulder instability.

Posterior shoulder instability (PSI) is defined by dynamic, recurrent and symptomatic partial or total loss of posterior joint contact. Anatomic risk factors comprise ligament hyperlaxity, glenoid retroversion or dysplasia, and high horizontal acromial morphology. Associated anatomic lesions comprise labrum lesions, posterior glenoid erosion and/or fracture, and anterior humeral head notching.

Pyrocarbon Hemi-Shoulder Arthroplasty Provides Satisfactory Outcomes Following Prior Open Latarjet.

Purpose: To assess the clinical and radiographic outcomes, at a minimum follow-up of 4 years, following HSA using pyrocarbon in patients that had prior open Latarjet.

Methods: The authors retrieved the records of 61 consecutive patients that underwent HSA with a pyrocarbon humeral head at 2 centers between December 2013 and October 2019. Eight patients (9 shoulders) had undergone previous Latarjet procedures without other surgical antecedents.

Long-term (minimum 10 years) survival and outcomes of pyrocarbon interposition shoulder arthroplasty.

Background: There are some major controversies surrounding the use and longevity of pyrocarbon interposition shoulder arthroplasty (PISA). The objective of this study was to investigate the long-term survival and outcomes (minimum 10-year) following PISA for osteoarthritis (OA) in young and active patients.

Methods: This was a retrospective review of prospectively collected data of patients who underwent PISA (InSpyre; Tornier-Stryker) for OA between 2009 and 2012.

Background: The utilization of stemless anatomic total shoulder arthroplasty is on the rise. Epiphyseal fixation leads to radiological bone remodeling, which has been reported to exceed 40% in certain studies series. The aim of this study was to present the clinical and radiological outcomes of a stemless implant with asymmetric central epiphyseal fixation at an average follow-up of 31 months.
