This study investigated the effects of fine-sized pork bone biochar particles on remediating As-contaminated soil and alleviating associated phytotoxicity to rice in 50-day short-term and 120-day full-life-cycle pot experiments. The addition of micro-nanostructured pork bone biochar (BC) pyrolyzed at 400 and 600 °C (BC400 and BC600) significantly increased the As-treated shoot and root fresh weight by 24.4-77.

The influence of micro-nanoplastics (MNPs) on the fate and effects of other pollutants present in the environment is largely unknown. This study evaluated if the root exposure to MNPs (polystyrene, PS; 20 or 1000 nm) had an impact on the accumulation of arsenic and boscalid (As and Bos) in lettuce (Lactuca sativa). Under hydroponic conditions, plants were co-exposed to MNPs at 10 or 50 mg/L, and to 1 mg/L of each environmental pollutant (EP).

Background: Our goal was to determine in healthy individuals and individuals with type 2 diabetes the impact of repeated episodes of hypoglycemia on the corrected QT (QTc) interval and the time course for QTc recovery. Further, since hypoglycemia increases aldosterone and patients with primary aldosteronism have prolonged QTc, we also determined whether mineralocorticoid receptor blockade prevents hypoglycemia-induced QTc alterations.

Methods: Twenty-seven healthy participants completed a double-blinded crossover trial contrasting 3 experimental conditions: 1) euglycemia, 2) hypoglycemia, and 3) hypoglycemia with mineralocorticoid receptor blockade pretreatment.

During summer, children may meet fewer 24 hours Movement Guidelines (24 hr-MGs) [moderate-vigorous physical activity (PA): ≥60 minutes/day, screen time: ≤2 hours/day, sleep: 9-11 hours/day) compared with the school year. Structured environments within community settings (, summer programs) support guideline adherence. Information about the relationship between structured home environments and 24 hr-MGs is needed.
