Study of image sensors for enhanced face recognition at a distance in the Smart City context.

Smart monitoring and surveillance systems have become one of the fundamental areas in the context of security applications in Smart Cities. In particular, video surveillance for Human Activity Recognition (HAR) applied to the recognition of potential offenders and to the detection and prevention of violent acts is a challenging task that is still undergoing. This paper presents a method based on deep learning for face recognition at a distance for security applications.

A Model to Calculate the Current-Temperature Relationship of Insulated and Jacketed Cables.

This paper proposes and validates using experimental data a dynamic model to determine the current-temperature relationship of insulated and jacketed cables in air. The model includes the conductor core, the inner insulation layer, the outer insulating and protective jacket and the air surrounding the cable. To increase its accuracy, the model takes into account the different materials of the cable (conductor, polymeric insulation and jacket) and also considers the temperature dependence of the physical properties, such as electrical resistivity, heat capacity and thermal conductivity.

Study of some Saccharomyces cerevisiae strains for winemaking after preadaptation at low temperatures.

Low-temperature fermentations (13 degrees C) are considered to improve wine aromatic profiles. However, because the risk of stuck and sluggish fermentations is high, these fermentations are not common. The aim of this paper was to analyze the effect of different preadaptation protocols in two commercial wine strains on the fermentation and some wine parameters.
