A number of studies have been demonstrated that arachidonate 5-lipoxygenase (ALOX-5) plays a role in regulating a range of physiological and pathological processes through the catalysis of leukotriene formation from arachidonic acid (ARA). The coding sequence of ALOX-5 from Apostichopus japonicus (Aj-ALOX-5) was successfully amplified, resulting in a 2028 bp ORF sequence that encodes 674 amino acids. A comparison of the amino acid sequence with those of other 5-lipoxygenases revealed that Aj-ALOX-5 has the N-terminal "PLAT domain" and C-terminal "lipoxygenase structural domain" characteristic of this enzyme family.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFImmunogenic cell death (ICD) has recently emerged as a promising strategy in reinforcing anti-PD-L1 blockade immunotherapy of triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). The CDK4/6 inhibitor palbociclib (PAL), as a clinical star medicine targeting the cell cycle machinery, is an ideal candidate for fabricating a highly efficient ICD inducer for TNBC chemoimmunotherapy. However, the frequently observed chemoresistance and clinical adverse effects, as well as significant antagonistic effects when co-administered with certain chemotherapeutics, have seriously restricted the efficiency of PAL and the feasibility of combination strategies.

Background: Individual neurobiological heterogeneity among patients with tobacco use disorder (TUD) hampers the identification of neuroimaging phenotypes.
Methods: The current study recruited 122 TUD individuals and 57 healthy controls, and obtained their 3D-T1 images. Heterogeneity through discriminative analysis (HYDRA) was applied to uncover the potential subtype of TUD where regional gray matter volume (GMV) was treated as the feature.
Microalgal-bacterial biofilms are a competitive wastewater treatment technology. This study investigated the impact of photoperiod on the characteristics and performance of these biofilms in treating pig farm wastewater. Under continuous lighting (L-24h), we observed optimal NH-N removal efficiency, minimal chlorophyll levels, and peak concentrations of polysaccharides and c-di-GMP.

Its pathogenesis involves an imbalance between connective tissue repair and degradation. CD34 cells comprise a heterogeneous population that exhibits stem cell and progenitor cell properties.
