Tropical cyclone risks are expected to increase with climate change. One such risk is extreme ocean waves generated by surface winds from these systems. We use synthetic databases of both historical (1980-2017) and future (2015-2050) tropical cyclone tracks to generate wind fields and force a computationally efficient wave model to estimate significant wave heights across all global tropical cyclone basins.

Background: It is known that leprosy is a socially determined disease, but most studies using spatial analysis have not considered the vulnerabilities present in these territories.
Objectives: To measure the association between social vulnerability and the burden of leprosy in the urban space of Cuiabá.
Methods: Ecological study, carried out in Cuiabá, Brazil.
Introduction: Despite growing research, the relationship between social determinants of health (SDoH) and low back pain (LBP) remains inconsistent. This study aimed to investigate the associations between SDoH and self-reported LBP in the Portuguese population in 2019 and explore potential differences between rural and urban areas.
Methods: This is a cross-sectional study that includes 13,230 participants from the 2019 Portuguese National Health Interview Survey.
By March 2020, the first COVID-19 cases were detected in Portugal. Anecdotal evidence showed that the National Health Service absenteeism rate rose. The present study aimed to quantify and characterize the absenteeism rate among these healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic in Portugal.

Water supplies are often characterized by excessive organic waste that is decomposed by bacteria, using dissolved oxygen, leading to oxygen depletion. The potassium content of these waters may also affect negatively the mitochondrial metabolism and cellular ROS formation.
