The spatial organization of cells within a tissue is dictated throughout dynamic developmental processes. We sought to understand whether cells geometrically coordinate with one another throughout development to achieve their organization. The pancreas is a complex cellular organ with a particular spatial organization.

Inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase 2 (IMPDH2) modulates response to therapy and chemo-resistance in triple negative breast cancer.

Triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) is one of the deadliest subtypes of breast cancer, whose high frequency of relapse is often due to resistance to chemotherapy. Here, we identify inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase 2 (IMPDH2) as a contributor to doxorubicin resistance, in multiple TNBC models. Analysis of publicly available datasets reveals elevated IMPDH2 expression to associate with worse overall TNBC prognosis in the clinic, including lower recurrence-free survival post adjuvant/neoadjuvant therapy.

Role of the stratosphere in the global mercury cycle.

Mercury (Hg) is a global pollutant with substantial risks to human and ecosystem health. By upward transport in tropical regions, mercury enters into the stratosphere, but the contribution of the stratosphere to global mercury dispersion and deposition remains unknown. We find that between 5 and 50% (passing through the 400-kelvin isentropic surface and tropopause, respectively) of the mercury mass deposited on Earth's surface is chemically processed in the lower stratosphere.
