Very-long-chain (VLC) alkanes are major components of hydrophobic cuticular waxes that cover the aerial epidermis of land plants, serving as a waterproofing barrier to protect the plant against environmental stresses. The mechanism of VLC-alkane biosynthesis has been extensively elucidated in plants. However, little is known about the biosynthesis of long-chain alkanes (LC, C ~ C) such as pentadecane in plants.

By integrating the distinctive physical properties of PTCs and employing a comprehensive model based on a four-level system, the feasibility of achieving thresholdless laser operation is demonstrated. The proposed electrodynamic model comprehensively captures the intricate interplay between the electromagnetic field and the PTC medium.

Enhanced mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS), which enables cell growth, migration, and cancer stem cell maintenance, is a critical driver of disease progression and a potential intervention target of OC. However, the current OXPHOS intervention strategy mainly suppresses the activity of the electron transport chain directly and cannot effectively distinguish normal tissues from cancer tissues, resulting in serious side effects and limited efficacy.

Materials And Methods: Among 1,500 adult patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) between January 2016 and December 2019, we examined the associations of baseline RDW and PLR with the risk of AKI development using logistical analysis. In addition, we explored the value of RDW and PLR in predicting in-hospital mortality.

The H7N9 subtype of influenza virus can infect birds and humans, causing great losses in the poultry industry and threatening public health worldwide. However, H7N9 infection in other mammals has not been reported yet. In the present study, one H7N9 subtype influenza virus, A/camel/Inner Mongolia/XL/2020 (XL), was isolated from the nasal swabs of camels in Inner Mongolia, China, in 2020.
