Article Synopsis
  • The CALCIPHYX trial tested hexasodium fytate, a potential treatment for calciphylaxis, a rare condition causing painful skin lesions, in a double-blind, placebo-controlled setting.
  • Out of the randomised patients, both those receiving hexasodium fytate and the placebo group showed similar improvements in wound assessment and pain scores after 12 weeks, indicating no significant benefit from the treatment over placebo.
  • Serious adverse events were lower in the fytate group compared to the placebo group, suggesting that hexasodium fytate may be safer, but there was no substantial difference in healing or pain reduction between the two groups.

Patients receiving dialysis have high cardiovascular risk in part due to extensive vascular calcification. In the CaLIPSO study, infusion of hexasodium fytate (SNF472), the hexasodium salt of inositol hexaphosphate, for 52 weeks thrice weekly during hemodialysis significantly reduced progression of coronary artery calcification (CAC). This report examines pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) and exposure-efficacy in CaLIPSO.

The analysis of pedestrian GPS datasets is fundamental to further advance on the study and the design of walkable cities. The highest resolution GPS data can characterize micro-mobility patterns and pedestrians' micro-motives in relation to a small-scale urban context. Purposed-based recurrent mobility data inside people's neighbourhoods is an important source in these sorts of studies.

A near-threshold proton resonance in ^{11}B at E_{ex}=11.44±0.04  MeV is observed via the reaction ^{10}Be(d,n)^{11}Be→^{10}Be+p in inverse kinematics, measured with a beam of the radioactive isotope ^{10}Be.
