Short Term Effects of Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation Combined with Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation in Youth Basketball Players: A Randomized Controlled Trial.

Hamstring muscle injuries are common in basketball and result in long periods of inactivity. To reduce their incidence, preventive protocols, including proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) stretches, have been proposed. The aim of this study is to compare the short-term effects of PNF and PNF + neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) on hamstring extensibility and, secondarily, on vertical jump capacity in young basketball players.

Evaluating functional outcomes and quality of life in musculoskeletal tumor patients with distal femoral megaprostheses: a case-control study.

Background: Endoprosthetic knee replacement using megaprostheses has become a common strategy for preserving joint function in patients with distal femur tumors. While existing literature has primarily focused on surgical techniques, complications, and implants, recent improvements in patient survival rates have sparked increased interest in the long-term functional outcomes associated with this treatment.

Methods: This case-control study evaluated functional outcomes-Timed Up and Go (TUG), 6-Minute Walk Test (6MWT), knee flexor and extensor muscle strength, and sagittal knee range of motion-and health-related quality of life (SF-36) between patients with distal femoral megaprostheses (n = 31) and healthy controls (n = 48).

The effects of a prehabilitation programme based on therapeutic exercise, back care education, and pain neuroscience education in patients scheduled for lumbar radiculopathy surgery: A study protocol for a randomised controlled trial.

The aim of this present clinical trial is to evaluate the effectiveness of a multicomponent prehabilitation programme administered through educational videos versus another programme based on written exercise recommendations, in patients scheduled for lumbar radiculopathy surgery. This study will be a multicentre, controlled, randomised, parallel clinical trial. One hundred participants undergoing lumbar radiculopathy surgery who meet the established inclusion criteria will be recruited at different Spanish hospitals.

Inflammatory biomarkers and psychological variables to assess quality of life in patients with inflammatory bowel disease: a cross-sectional study.

Background: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a chronic gastrointestinal condition. While inflammatory biomarkers are valuable for diagnosing and monitoring the disease, their correlation with patients' quality of life (QoL) is not well-established.

Purpose: This study aims to investigate the correlations between inflammatory biomarkers and the quality of life (QoL) variables of individuals diagnosed with IBD in clinical remission.

Influence of Physical Activity and Cup Orientation on Metal Ion Release and Oxidative Stress in Metal-on-Metal and Ceramic-on-Metal Total Hip Arthroplasty.

Background: Metal-on-metal (M-M) total hip arthroplasty (THA) has shown adverse reactions to metal debris, abnormal soft-tissue reactions, and high blood metal ion levels. This study aims to: (1) assess whether the toxicity of high levels of ions is related to altered oxidative stress and (2) evaluate tribological factors related to increased blood levels of chromium (Cr) and cobalt (Co) ions.
