The need for effective approaches to support aging and homebound adults is recognized internationally and domestically. This exploratory study sought to understand the proximal benefits of an intergenerational program in Delaware, USA that connected homebound individuals with college students. The primary goal was to describe program impacts on home-bound community residents to inform future research, program planning, and implementation.

Family Help With Medication Management: A Predictive Marker for Early Readmission.

Objectives: To identify aspects of medication management that are associated with a greater risk of hospital readmission.

Patients And Methods: We conducted a prospective cohort study, with a thorough medication history and reconciliation performed at admission and discharge. Patients 18 years or older (N=258) were prospectively enrolled on admission to a cardiology service at a tertiary care hospital from September 1, 2011, through July 31, 2012.

Cell therapy and satellite centers: the Cardiovascular Cell Therapy Research Network experience.

Due to the changing population in patients with myocardial infarction, recruiting patients in clinical trials continues to challenge clinical investigators. The Cardiovascular Cell Therapy Research Network (CCTRN) chose to expand the reach and power of its recruitment effort by incorporating both referral and treatment satellite centers. Eight treatment satellites were successfully identified and they screened patients over a two year period.

A molecular beam epitaxy facility for in situ neutron scattering.

A molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) facility has been built to enable in situ neutron scattering measurements during growth of epitaxial layers. While retaining the full capabilities of a research MBE chamber, this facility has been optimized for polarized neutron reflectometry measurements. Optimization includes a compact lightweight portable design, a neutron window, controllable magnetic field, deposition across a large 76 mm diameter sample with exceptional flux uniformity, and sample temperatures continuously controllable from 38 to 1375 K.
