Purpose: The value of stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) in patients with oligometastatic head-and-neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) remains unclear, as existing evidence is primarily derived from retrospective single-center analyses with small patient cohorts. This study aimed to evaluate the outcomes of pulmonary SBRT in patients with oligometastatic HNSCC and to identify factors associated with survival.
Methods: This trinational multicenter cohort study, including 16 centers from XXX, XXX, and XXX, retrospectively analyzed patients with oligometastatic HNSCC undergoing SBRT for pulmonary metastases between 2010 and 2023.
Objective: This qualitative study aimed to explore patients' experiences with a novel treatment approach for endometriosis-associated pain, termed 'sinosomatics'. Specifically, it sought to understand women's experiences of the treatment and its components, the effects of the treatment on biological, psychological, and social levels, and how the women interpreted the changes they experienced.
Methods: We conducted ten semi-structured interviews with patients, who had undergone the complementary treatment for endometriosis-associated pain.
Purpose: Cumulative cisplatin doses of ≥ 200 mg/m improve survival in adults with head-and-neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) undergoing chemoradiation, but many older adults with HNSCC cannot receive this prognostically relevant dose due to toxicities. This study aims to develop predictive models to assess the likelihood of older adults with HNSCC receiving ≥ 200 mg/m cisplatin during chemoradiation.
Methods: 366 patients from the SENIOR database, an international cohort of adults ≥ 65 years with HNSCC, received definitive chemoradiation with single-agent cisplatin and were analyzed.
Recent advancements in Parkinson's disease (PD) drug development have been significantly driven by genetic research. Importantly, drugs supported by genetic evidence are more likely to be approved. While genome-wide association studies (GWAS) are a powerful tool to nominate genomic regions associated with certain traits or diseases, pinpointing the causal biologically relevant gene is often challenging.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFDopamine (DA) signaling is critical for optimal cognitive aging, especially in prefrontal-parietal and fronto-striatal networks. Single nucleotide polymorphisms associated with dopamine regulation, COMTVal158Met and DRD2C957T, stand to exert influence on executive function performance via neural properties. The current study investigated whether longitudinal thinning of mesocortical regions is related to COMT and DRD2 genetic predisposition and associated with decline in executive function over four-years.
