In 2022, 81,806 opioid-involved overdose deaths were reported in the United States, more than in any previous year. Medications for opioid use disorder (OUD), particularly buprenorphine and methadone, substantially reduce overdose-related and overall mortality. However, only a small proportion of persons with OUD receive these medications.

Mental Health Surveillance Among Children - United States, 2013-2019.

Mental health encompasses a range of mental, emotional, social, and behavioral functioning and occurs along a continuum from good to poor. Previous research has documented that mental health among children and adolescents is associated with immediate and long-term physical health and chronic disease, health risk behaviors, social relationships, education, and employment. Public health surveillance of children's mental health can be used to monitor trends in prevalence across populations, increase knowledge about demographic and geographic differences, and support decision-making about prevention and intervention.

Background: Intra-arterial injection of fillers can lead to occlusion of the ophthalmic artery or its branches supplying the retina or the optic nerve. The mechanism through which this occurs is incompletely understood. We investigated the possibility of generating microparticles after injecting commercially available fillers into a flowing system in vitro.

Identifying risk factors for early psychiatric rehospitalization (EPR, rehospitalization within 90 days) can inform strategies to reduce rehospitalization rates. Random forest (RF), a tree-based classification algorithm, can be useful for identifying potential risk factors for EPR from a large number of patient factors. Patient characteristics were collected from 519 psychiatric inpatients at eight New York City hospitals.
