Implementation of the California End of Life Option Act at UCSF: Examining the Utility of the Mandatory Mental Health Assessment in Medical Aid in Dying.

Background: The End of Life Option Act (EOLOA) legalized medical aid in dying (MAID) in California in 2015. University of California, San Francisco Health initially implemented a policy requiring a mandatory mental health assessment of all patients seeking MAID, though this was not required by the EOLOA. State-level statistics on EOLOA are available, but less is known about outcomes at individual institutions and how institutional policy affects outcomes for patients seeking MAID.

Gender Distribution of Course Material Authors in a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Program.

The gender distribution of authors in the health sciences literature has been well documented. We explored whether this distribution persists among library course reserves for a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program, as course reserves are veterinary faculty members' own teaching materials. Such a bibliometric analysis of course reserves provides a novel method of examining curricular materials.

Neuropsychiatric prodromes and symptom timings in relation to disease onset and/or flares in SLE: results from the mixed methods international INSPIRE study.

Background: Neuropsychiatric symptoms in SLE and other systemic autoimmune rheumatic diseases (SARDs) are challenging to diagnose, attribute and manage. We investigated the timings of onset of a broad range of neuropsychiatric (NP) symptoms in relation to timing of SLE onset. In addition, we explored whether NP symptoms may be a prodrome to SARD onset and to subsequent flares.
