Background: Acute mesenteric ischaemia is a severe complication in critically ill patients, but has never been evaluated in patients on veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (V-A ECMO). This study was designed to determine the prevalence of mesenteric ischaemia in patients supported by V-A ECMO and to evaluate its risk factors, as well as to appreciate therapeutic modalities and outcome.
Methods: In a retrospective single centre study (January 2013 to January 2017), all consecutive adult patients who underwent V-A ECMO were included, with exclusion of those dying in the first 24 hours.
Background: Fertility-sparing surgery for borderline ovarian tumors (BOT) is feasible and effective and does not seem to have a negative effect on survival. Specific data on the effect of cystectomy, and notably on recurrence, are lacking.
Methods: This was a French retrospective multicenter study of 313 women with stage I BOT treated from 1990 to 2000 in 13 specialized gynecological units and 1 cancer center.
Objective: To assess the feasibility of operative termination of pregnancy between 12 and 14 weeks of gestation and the role of the operator's experience in physicians previously unfamiliar to this technique.
Materials And Methods: A prospective study of 251 operative terminations of pregnancy, from July 1st, 2001 to January 31st, 2002, and from May 1st, 2002 to October 31st, 2002, in order to assess the role of operator's experience. 104 terminations between 12 and 14 weeks were compared to 147 terminations at earlier gestational ages.
