Objective: This study investigates whether early gestational age (GA) at delivery is associated with an increased risk for severe maternal morbidity (SMM) in women with preterm delivery.

Methods: This retrospective national cohort study based on the Programme de Médicalisation des Systèmes d'Information database included mothers who gave birth between 22 and 37 weeks in metropolitan France in 2019 (in utero deaths and medical terminations of pregnancies were excluded). SMM was defined as a composite criterion consisting of the occurrence of at least one of the following events: death, severe preeclampsia, obstetric surgical complications, severe maternal diseases, and admission to the intensive care unit.

Background: Maternal mental health is vital to overall well-being, particularly among expectant and postpartum Black and Latina women who experience higher stress levels and mental health challenges. Traditional healthcare systems often fail to meet these needs, underscoring the need for innovative and accessible interventions. NurtureVR, a digital maternal mental health and educational program, leverages virtual reality to offer mindfulness, relaxation, and guided imagery to support these women.

Ambient mass spectrometry (MS) technologies have been applied to spatial metabolomic profiling of various samples in an attempt to both increase analysis speed and reduce the length of sample preparation. Recent studies, however, have focused on improving the spatial resolution of ambient approaches. Finer resolution requires greater analysis times and commensurate computing power for more sophisticated data analysis algorithms and larger data sets.

Fetal death is defined as the spontaneous cessation of cardiac activity after 14 weeks gestational age (GA). Regarding prevention of fetal death in the general population, it is not recommended to counsel or prescribe rest, aspirin, vitamin A, vitamin D, or micronutrient supplementation; systematically look for nuchal cord during prenatal screening ultrasound; or perform systematic antepartum monitoring by cardiotocography for the sole purpose of reducing the risk of fetal death. It is recommended to offer vaccination against influenza in epidemic periods and against SARS-CoV-2.

Article Synopsis
  • Patients with high-risk hormone receptor-positive, HER2-negative breast cancer (HR+ BC) show a significant risk of relapse, prompting the need for additional treatment strategies.
  • The study analyzed data from the CANcer TOxicities (CANTO) study, involving patients between 2012 and 2022, categorizing them based on various unfavorable features indicating high risk.
  • Results indicated that most patients underwent (neo)adjuvant chemotherapy and endocrine therapy; however, many discontinued treatment due to adverse events, with a 5-year survival rate reflecting the need for ongoing management in this patient group.
