Background: While the potentially hazardous effects of intraocular perfluorocarbon gases during air travel have been recognized, the equivalent risk of intraocular air tamponade is less known and has, to the best of our knowledge, not been reported yet.
Case Presentation: A 52-year-old white female experienced a complete loss of vision and pain in her left eye during air travel following pars plana vitrectomy with air tamponade. Clinical and multimodal imaging findings only a few hours after emergency landing indicated a transient central retinal artery occlusion due to a significant increase in intraocular pressure during the flight.
In this study, water-insoluble, moisture-resistant starch foams were prepared using an optimized one-step extrusion-foaming process in a ZSK-30 twin screw extruder. The extrusion parameters, including temperature, screw configuration, die diameter, water content, and feeding rates, were optimized to achieve foams with the lowest density and controlled expansion. A screw configuration made up of three kneading sections was found to be the most effective for better mixing and foaming.

Methods: All patients with tissue glue-assisted plaque radiotherapy at a single ocular oncology center were evaluated for patient demographics, tumor features, surgical details, tumor response, and glue-related complications.
Results: There were 13 patients (mean age 72 years) treated with tissue glue-assisted plaque radiotherapy for choroidal melanoma (n=12) or choroidal metastasis (n=1).
Purpose: Suture preplacement by the ocular oncology surgeon is a critical step before inserting a radioactive plaque for ocular melanoma brachytherapy. We report on a novel 3D-printing method to create a custom "dummy" plaque applicator for the 22 mm notched gold plaque using in-house 3D-printing.
Methods: A computer-aided design (CAD) file was created replicating a heavily used gold plaque that no longer has a satisfactory "dummy" plaque.
Introduction: Iodine-125 (I-125) seeds, commonly used in low-dose rate brachytherapy for ocular malignancies, are often discarded after a single use. This study examines the potential cost savings at an institution with high ocular melanoma referrals, by re-using I-125 seeds for eye-plaque brachytherapy.
Methods: In this single-institutional retrospective analysis, data was collected from I-125 seed orders from 8/2019 through 10/2022.
